Born in Wallasey, Merseyside, David Gilbertson read English and Modern Languages at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University before beginning a career in business journalism and information publishing. He was Editor of Lloyd’s List and Metal Bulletin and Publisher of The Lancet. He went on to head two of the UK’s biggest business and professional information companies: Informa and Emap.

Now, he and his wife divide their time between London and Provence.
