A movie can be very gratifying to watch; It enables viewers to experience a great deal from the security of a cinema seat or their own home. On the other hand, the way some movies end their stories can leave us feeling lost and confused.
To find out the most confusing movie endings, Gembyte.com analysed Google searches to find which films boggled British viewers the most.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – 1,850 searches
The talented cast was directed by Sam Raimi, who is well-known to fans of superhero films for his work on the original Spiderman trilogy. Together, they created a spellbinding tale about heartbreak and loss. No one can blame the fans who got a little lost and turned to Google for some clarification because the multiverse is so horrifyingly well depicted.
Eternals – 1,800 searches
Another movie from Marvel that is on the list, this one is about aliens who have woken up after thousands of years to defend Earth from the Deviants. Fans praised Chloé Zhao, the film’s director, for taking the time to really get to know each character, despite the ensemble cast. This helped fans connect with many, if not all of them.
Us – 1,600 searches
Us tells the story of a family of African Americans fighting for their lives against four attackers who have assumed the identities of each family member. The numerous plot twists and turns culminate in a major one at the movie’s conclusion, which is probably why Us is so high on this list. There is never a dull moment.
The Lost Daughter – 1,500 searches
Focusing on the many facets of motherhood through the story of Leda, a mother who is distant from her child. Olivia Coleman plays Leda, a woman on vacation with her own young daughter who develops a complicated relationship with her. Shutter Island has a dark plot but an engaging story that will keep you coming back at least a few more times. Even if you have a complete understanding of the plot from the very beginning, you will most likely return to this movie to appreciate all of the details you may have missed. This psychological neo-noir drama starring Leonard DiCaprio will leave you breathless and anticipating every scene no matter how many times you watch it.
The Power of the Dog – 1,100 searches
The nuanced plot of this psychological drama, which takes place in the United States in the 1920s, reaches its conclusion in a way that is both complex and improbable. Another film with Benedict Cumberbatch on it, this one builds slowly but has a lot of tension, conflict, and mystery.

Amy Adams plays an agoraphobic child psychologist who starts noticing suspicious things happening and starts closely monitoring a family across the street. The film served as the basis for the Kirsten Bell-starring parody television series The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.

A Spanish film that follows the lives of people who live in a tower where food is rationed vertically from the top to the bottom, with those at the bottom receiving only what is left when the platform descends to their level. This film examines human nature. The Platform is definitely not for the faint of heart because it looks at human nature and the human mind and shows some pretty bloody scenes in the process.
Things Heard & Seen – 900 searches
A family moves to a new town in Things Heard and Seen. As the family adjusts to their new home, the main character, played by Amanda Seyfried, begins to sense strange, supernatural things. The movie is a different take on the classic haunted house genre and has a tragic and hopeful ending.
