On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Hollowhood, made in Staffordshire in the UK by indie production company Siren Stories, picked up for international distribution.
Distribution
The film Hollowhood was written and shot in Staffordshire in the UK by local filmmakers with Siren Stories, JJ Barnes and Jonathan McKinney. In 2022, USA based distributor Scooter P Entertainment acquired Hollowhood, and the film debuted on international streaming services in March 2023.
Hollowhood is currently available to stream on PLEX and will soon be available on Tubi, Mometu, and other platforms. In a recent video, JJ and Jonathan shared their excitement at the news their film had been picked up.

Halloween in an old house in the middle of nowhere…scared?
In Hollowhood, Olivia and her ex-girlfriend Penny reunite for their Natasha’s Halloween getaway. The creepy locals, the odd priest, and a man whose wife went missing five years ago change Olivia’s initial plans to rekindle their love, and soon, Olivia’s focus shifts from whether Penny and she can get back together to whether they and their friends can survive.
Siren Stories
Siren Stories, a multimedia company based in Stafford that was founded by JJ Barnes and Jonathan McKinney in 2016, produced Hollowhood. Filming began in January 2020, prior to lockdown, and was completed in the summer of 2021. In addition to acting in the movie and singing on the soundtrack, JJ and Jonathan also co-wrote and directed the film. Jonathan scored the film, and editing was done by JJ.
Staffordshire
Squirrel Barn Holiday Cottage in Milwich, The Green Man Pub in Milwich, The Sun in Stafford, and Victoria Park in Stafford are among the locations featured in the movie. There are a few actors from further afield, but the majority of the cast is from the Stafford area. The three lead roles are performed by Stafford locals Kate Marris, Vicky Burke, and Leo Parkes.
A considerable number of the cast also sing on the soundtrack, which is accessible to stream on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
The Siren Stories Team premiered Hollowhood in October 2021 at Slater’s Pub in Stafford, Staffordshire. The cast and crew, soundtrack artists, friends, and the Mayor and Mayoress of Stafford attended the event.
