Ivory Gates
Since its formation in Piracicaba/SP in 2000, Ivory Gates has released the albums “Shapes of Memory,” “Status Quo,” “Devil’s Dance,” and “UnKnown Trais,” all of which have received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both the national and international press.
Ivory Gates currently features Matheus Armelin on guitar, Hugo Mazzotti on bass, Felipe Travaglini on vocals, and Thiago Siqueira on drums. Their music is characterized by its heavy metal and high doses of progressive rock from the 1980s and 1970s. The arrangements are extremely complex, despite the musics direct and aggressive nature.
Ivory Gates went to extremes this time and used “evolution,” as well as the fear of the unknown and staying in one’s comfort zone, as concepts for the musical creation of Behind the Wall. As a result, despite keeping the band’s roots, Ivory Gates tried to incorporate new elements into their compositions, such as a 6/8 ballad (Leaves of Winter), the thrash metal weight of “Fall of Jericho,” or even fluttering with Brazilian and Latin rhythms in “Duallity.”
