Blood Betrayal By Eric Richardson Is A Gritty Tale Of Power, Vice, And Survival, On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, Eric Richardson’s debut crime thriller, Blood Betrayal, delivers a visceral exploration of East London gangland wars, offering a fresh perspective through its raw narrative, dark humor, and unique authorial background.
Eric Richardson’s debut novel, Blood Betrayal, is a gripping crime thriller set amidst the gritty underbelly of 1980s East London. Through the eyes of brothers Mat and Nic Hunter, readers are plunged into a world of gangland bosses, systemic corruption, and the relentless pursuit of power.
Richardson masterfully weaves a narrative filled with gritty realism, exploring the fractured society of the time. As Mat and Nic navigate the treacherous world of organized crime, they confront a series of challenges that test their will to survive. The novel offers a disturbing exploration of the consequences that a life of crime can have on those who find themselves in its grasp.
Born into a life of violence, Mat and Nic rise to become the dominant gangland bosses of East London, following in their father’s footsteps. Mat’s involvement in the illegal drug trade, fueled by laundered money from the Brinks Mat robbery, propels the Hunter gang to the pinnacle of organized crime. However, this ascent comes at a devastating cost.
In a world filled with serial killers, Yardies, and Ultra-Violent radical feminists, trust is a scarce commodity. Set against the backdrop of 1980s East London, with its systemic police corruption, racism, and poverty, Blood Betrayal is a gritty and darkly humorous tale. The novel, the first in a duology, offers a stark contrast between the decadence and opulence of the Docklands Development and the harsh realities of the criminal underworld.
This isn’t just another ‘gangster story. Far from it, in fact. ‘Blood Betrayal’ highlights the inherent complexities and moral ambiguities within criminal lives. Through my own experiences, I’m able to challenge perceptions and use fictional drama to provoke thought, change minds and stir controversy. While I acknowledge that many of the ideas presented in the novel may make some people upset or even angry, I invite them to open their minds and walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. They might be surprised with what they find.
