Beth McKenzie, the Manchester-based singer-songwriter, continues to captivate audiences with her raw talent and fearless artistry. Her latest single, “She’s Finally Lost It!”, is a powerful and emotionally charged exploration of vulnerability, isolation, and empowerment.

This track marks a significant departure from the indie-pop somberness of her previous work, “Don’t Tell My Boyfriend.” With its pulsating beats, reverb-laden vocals, and unapologetic lyrics, “She’s Finally Lost It!” showcases a new facet of McKenzie’s musical identity. Her raw and expressive vocals deliver a harrowing tale of power abuse within the music industry, highlighting the emotional turmoil and resilience of the artist.

McKenzie’s songwriting has always been a cathartic outlet, allowing her to process her experiences and emotions. With the support of her new label, Handwritten Records, she is poised to take her music to new heights.

I went from being promised the earth to being manipulated and controlled by someone. The lyrics came easily but, at first, musically the song was very dark and sombre, and it just didn’t work. My producer and I decided on a radical change and created an upbeat, edgy sound that captures the sheer insanity of the whole situation.

Beth McKenzie, a rising star from Stockport, is blending the nostalgia of ’00s British pop with a refreshing Gen Z sensibility. Influenced by artists like Lily Allen, Paloma Faith, Chappell Roan, and Gracie Abrams, she’s crafting a unique sound that resonates with a new generation of listeners.

Her debut EP, slated for release later this year, showcases her versatility as an artist, seamlessly transitioning between vibrant indie pop and edgy alternative sounds. With each track, McKenzie delves into deeply personal experiences, from grappling with internalized homophobia in “Don’t Tell My Boyfriend” to exposing power abuse in the music industry in “She’s Finally Lost It!” Her honest and poignant lyrics, combined with her distinctive vocal delivery, make her a compelling storyteller.

As she continues to gain recognition and support from platforms like BBC Introducing and Jodie Bryant’s Discover Playlist, Beth McKenzie is poised to become a major force in the pop music scene. Her ability to connect with audiences on an emotional level, coupled with her undeniable talent, ensures a bright future ahead.
