On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, beautiful interactive picture book, Tree Spirits by Louise Wannier, encourages 3-8 year olds to use their imaginations to find spirit animals within the natural world.
Louise Wannier, a creative entrepreneur and loving “Safta” (Hebrew for grandmother), has sparked young imaginations with her award-winning children’s book, Tree Spirits.
This enchanting tale invites children to discover the hidden animal spirits within the trees that line our streets and avenues. With vibrant illustrations by April Tatiana Jackson and engaging text, Tree Spirits fosters creativity, curiosity, and a deeper connection to nature.
Beyond sparking creativity, Louise Wannier’s book nurtures emotional intelligence and fosters a love for the natural world. Numerous studies have highlighted the profound benefits of blue/green space for psychological and physical wellbeing. By encouraging children to explore the trees in their own neighborhoods and discover their hidden animal spirits, “Tree Spirits” taps into this innate human connection to nature.
The book’s call to action – for children to venture outdoors and embark on their own tree spirit adventures – empowers young readers to become active participants in their own well-being. By encouraging exploration and observation, Tree Spirits cultivates a sense of wonder, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
With 25 stunning photographs of trees as a backdrop, the book invites children to embark on a magical journey of discovery. Rhyming text prompts young minds to envision the hidden spirits residing within each tree, encouraging creativity and observation. As pages turn, charming animal illustrations, inspired by the unique contours of the tree bark, are revealed.
Beyond sparking imagination, Tree Spirits fosters emotional growth. Each animal spirit represents a different emotion, helping children recognize and understand their feelings. This interactive approach makes learning about emotions engaging and fun.
Designed for shared enjoyment, Tree Spirits is a perfect companion for parents, grandparents, and caregivers. The book’s inclusion of tracing paper encourages children to draw their own tree spirits, further nurturing artistic expression and confidence. By inspiring young readers to explore the natural world and connect with their emotions, Tree Spirits becomes more than just a book; it’s a gateway to a world of wonder and discovery.
