On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, Rachel Claire Farnsworth talks about writing a chapter of the collaborative book of women’s experiences of sexual abuse, Me Too But Never Again.
Written by JJ Barnes
I interviewed Rachel Claire Farnsworth about her life and career, the work that went into the new book, Me Too But Never Again, and her writing process.
I am a Transformational Life Changer, Advanced Hypnotherapist, Advanced Past & Future Life Progression Practitioner, Reiki Master, Soul Speak Practitioner, and international best-selling co-author.
My name is Rachel Claire Farnsworth and I help my clients release trauma to overcome both physical and mental health issues which are affecting their lives. I specialise in helping people with anxiety, chronic pain and autoimmune conditions using very powerful and effective advanced hypnotherapy methods to work with the subconscious mind and get to the root of the problem to release it.
When I was introduced to the title of the book, I immediately knew that I needed to write my chapter in ‘Me Too But Never Again.’ I felt the need to write for several reasons because I felt lost, vulnerable, so alone, isolated, and powerless when I was raped as a teenager. I wanted to help others who are going through it or have been through it so that they aren’t alone. I now help clients heal the suppressed emotions that sexual abuse causes so that they no longer feel like victims but warriors and are able to stand in their own true power.
I think it is really important that I stand up and say ‘yes, it happened to me too’ as it means I have that reference point. I hold that safe space for others without judgment, looking at how it made you feel and how it impacted you so it can be released without countless sessions.
There are 10 of us in the book and even though the situations were very different, we each felt very similar and I have found that to be true when working with clients too.
I started writing the chapter almost immediately after having that first conversation about the book.
My first book was also a co-authored book called ‘The Power Of Reinvention’. In this book I talk about my life almost being in two halves, the part where I was shy, co-dependent and a people pleaser, giving my power away over and over again. The second part happens after I start healing my own traumas and start to believe in myself for the first time. It is through my own transformation that I realise that life is for living and not therapy, when we heal at the root cause it really doesn’t have to take long to achieve and my clients believe that too, especially after working with me.
It took around a year from writing it to having it in a physical copy.
It took just 12 weeks, so there wasn’t too much time to worry about being vulnerable, we were more in the process of writing and getting it out there. It is a powerful message that needs to be heard and a topic that needs to be discussed more.
Experiencing sexual abuse of any kind can make us feel isolated and alone. We can feel like we’re the only person going through it, it is an extremely traumatic experience. I wanted to let others know that it is possible to heal and recover from it so that the emotional wounds don’t keep bleeding into our future too.
The biggest challenge was to be vulnerable, to be in the emotions of how it felt and the after-effects, even though this now feels like it happened to someone else, it is still emotional.
There wasn’t any research required as I was drawing on my own personal experiences.
I decided to write it in chronological order of the sequence of events. Going back to that time brought up some emotions that I wasn’t entirely expecting.
Yes, I had support with editing although not much was required. The purpose was to keep it in our authentic voices and tone.
Just start and keep going. There are books and courses to help write your own book, it may be worth considering collaborating with others in a co-authored book to begin with.
I am in the process of writing my own book ‘Decoding The Body’s Messages’ The body is the link between the subconscious and conscious minds, pain and symptoms are messages inviting us to go within and release the suppressed emotions lying behind the presenting symptoms. I will be sharing my learning through working with clients and my knowledge as a Soul Speak Practitioner.
Yes, I am really proud of my efforts and that of the coauthors too as it is already reaching best-seller status across a number of categories. We are hoping that it will make the New York Times Best Seller List too.
