On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, Caardia have released new single, Simple Is Better, about toxic relationships and friendships that cause more harm than good, taken from their self titled album.

Simple Is Better

Growing up often involves learning to let go of relationships and situations that no longer serve us. Singing sisters Celia and Annie Siriopoulos, collectively known as Caardia, share this valuable lesson in their new single.

“Simple Is Better” marks a departure from the child-pop sound of their past, showcasing a newfound maturity and a shift towards indie-alternative music. Both musically and philosophically, the track demonstrates the wisdom and growth of these young artists.

The song’s ruminative lyrics delve into the transformative experience of establishing adult boundaries and realizing their importance. Caardia’s insightful perspective on this topic is impressive for their ages of 19 and 21.

Musically, “Simple Is Better” features a captivating samba-inspired sound, thanks to the contributions of guitarist Alex Matthew and acclaimed producer Roy Hamilton III. The Siriopoulos sisters’ harmonious vocals, ranging from husky to soaring, add depth and emotion to the track.

The song offers a glimpse into Caardia’s upcoming EP, which explores a variety of emotionally charged themes. “Take Me Back (To This Moment)” features Celia questioning the wisdom of rekindling an old relationship, while “Is Till It Isn’t” reflects on unhealthy habits and associations that can go unnoticed until it’s too late.

The EP has been a long time coming, following a six-year hiatus since their debut EP, The Deep End, and five years since their single “Walking Away.” Caardia’s dedication to their craft and their ability to evolve musically are evident in this highly anticipated release.

‘Simple is Better’ is about letting go of toxic relationships, friendships and any other connections that are causing more harm than good.

With this project, we wanted to put forward music that was truly us. Not just our vocals, but our lyrics, our melodies and our sound. We had a lot of thoughts frozen in time, and if we couldn’t translate those into music, we couldn’t progress. We had to create this as the foundation for our future music and what we hope Caardia becomes.”

It was truly a long process of trying to be the most raw, relatable and genuine we could be, while trying to communicate and find the authentic ‘Caardia sound’ in the process.

Caardia

Caardia’s impressive career trajectory began in 2019 when they were awarded the FACTOR Artist Development Grant. They continued to gain recognition, being named one of CBC Searchlight’s Top 10 Teens to Watch in 2020. The following year, they showcased their talent at Canadian Music Week and performed at the Wintersong Music Festival in 2022 and 2023.

A significant milestone came in April of this year when they joined world-renowned Greek-Canadian guitarist Pavlo as guest performers on part of his Canadian tour. This experience exposed Caardia to larger audiences and solidified their position as rising stars in the music industry.

Beyond their musical endeavors, Caardia actively contributes to their community. They co-host The Caardia Show on Agape Greek Radio and are annual hosts and performers at the Greek International Film Festival Tour of Canada.

To address age restrictions faced by young performers, Annie and Celia co-founded Youth Jam, an annual festival of young people’s music sponsored by the City of Toronto. Established in 2018, Youth Jam has become a thriving tradition, providing a platform for emerging artists.

Caardia’s commitment to supporting the next generation of musicians is a testament to their own growth and development. Their ability to embrace change while maintaining a positive impact on their community is an inspiring example for others to follow.
