Making Sense

Poetry has long been the subject of fascination and contemplation, and is often regarded as one of the most profound forms of human expression. In new book, Making Sense: Making Sense Whilst Eating Poetry with AI, Toni Modestini diverges from the conventional reliance on scholars and critics that have until now been the mainstay of poetical interpretation and critique; and engages the power of artificial intelligence (ChatGPT) to offer interpretive commentary of his poetry.

Toni Modestini shares his unique collection of thirty-five poems in Making Sense, each accompanied by interpretative commentary from Chat GPT which unveils a unique dialogue between human creativity and artificial intelligence. While books of AI written poetry already exist, it’s the unique application of the AI analytical skills utilized in “Making Sense” which creates a unique niche to understand the emotions and feelings expressed in human poetry.

The deliberately diverse collection of poetry cover a range of topics to give Chat GPT an intellectual challenge and showcas its ability to engage with varying thematic intricacies. Making Sense not only serves as a medium for human expression but also as a platform for exploring the interpretive capabilities of artificial intelligence, bridging the realms of human emotion and machine understanding.

While many are concerned about the full potential of this technology, Toni Modestini shares how AI can reshape how we engage with literature, and provides for many, a greater opportunity to appreciate the emotions that lay behind the words on the written page. A fascinating read for poetry fans and AI enthusiasts and dissenters alike, this very modern poetry collection is not to be missed.
