On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, the Mistral Hotel in Crete is holding Weeks with themes like walking, yoga, writing, photography, and traditional cooking for solo travellers.
With a series of inspiring themed weeks for guests, Crete’s premier boutique hotel for solo travelers begins its 2023 season.
There are a variety of activities, such as a Yoga and Wellbeing Week and a Walking Week, both of which give participants the chance to see Western Crete from a different perspective.
A Flavours of Crete week offers guests the opportunity to learn more about the island’s healthy Mediterranean cuisine, where they can use delicious ingredients to create a variety of delicious dishes.
The Mistral Hotel in Maleme, close to Chania, offers a creative Photography Week with expert instruction on how to get the most out of your camera equipment and shoot stunning images in some of Greece’s best locations.
Toward the end of the season, there is a Writing Week where guests can hone their writing skills and produce engaging articles or blogs about their vacation or other travel experiences.
From April 25 to May 2, the Walking Week offers seven days of four walks through the rugged beauty of Western Crete and the opportunity to learn about the island’s culture, history, and flora and fauna.
The Flavours of Crete Week, which runs from May 2 to 9, is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to eat and learn how to cook a variety of traditional Cretan dishes. It also includes hands-on cooking classes, a look behind the scenes at olive oil production, foraging in the hotel garden, wine tasting, and the chance to talk about dishes and ingredients with local artisan producers and restaurants.
In the meantime, the Yoga and Wellbeing break, which runs from May 9 to 16, immerses guests in a healthier way of life through organic vegetarian food, herbal teas, massage, sound therapy, and yoga classes for all levels. The five yoga classes that make up the themed break are led by instructor Aspasia. She has created a program that combines Hatha, Vinyasa, and Iyengar Yoga with mudras and marmas and is specifically meant to help people get healthy and feel better.
The Photography Week, which runs from May 16 to 23, is a fantastic opportunity to learn new camera skills and techniques as well as to photograph a variety of locations, including the well-known Minoan and Greek archaeological sites, picturesque remote villages, and pristine beaches.
The writing retreat, which takes place from July 18 to 25, will provide guests with new skills and the inspiration to turn their "holiday" into an entertaining and informative article or blog. The tutoring will be held against the magical backdrop of the Mediterranean and will focus on writing tips and angles to pursue. It will also include trips to a variety of places and the chance to unwind in the Cretan sun.
The weeks also include trips to beautiful beaches, a fish lunch at Sfinari to try the famous Kakavia soup, and excursions to other beautiful places.
"Our themed weeks are designed to enable guests to learn fresh skills and enjoy new experiences, whilst also enjoying the relaxing surroundings and the friendly and welcoming environment of the Mistral Hotel," said Hotel guest manager Anja Tsifaki. "For each week, we have assembled expert and experienced tutors and guides to ensure guests get the most out of their stay during the themed weeks, and learn new skills too."
"Alongside our themed weeks, we are also open for guests who want to just come and stay with us, find their own way around Western Crete, relax by our two pools and enjoy our famed cuisine, or explore with our exclusive range of excursions," said Hotel owner Adonis Gialamarakis.
The Mistral Hotel features 35 luxurious single-occupancy rooms, two pools, a spa, an outdoor bar and restaurant, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The Mistral is known for its traditional Cretan cuisine, which places an emphasis on "homegrown, home-made" Cretan fare and is easily accessible to stunning beaches like Elafonisi and Falasarna as well as numerous historic and archaeological sites.
In western Crete, the Mistral Hotel can be found in Maleme, close to Chania. It is run by the Gialamarakis family and is open from April to mid-October. In addition to offering excursions that highlight the best of western Crete, it also hosts walking, cultural, photography, wellness, and cooking themed weeks. It is also close to fantastic beaches like Falasarna and Elafonisi and the Samaria Gorge.
*The themed weeks start from 1358 euro (including airport transfers).
**Seven nights in a standard room at the Mistral during the season starts from 1036 euro.
